Inspired by Mexico’s Colonial Period I rescue old puristic techniques in my art as attached to lost traditions as possible. While doing so, I rescue theses images without losing both their iconographic value and historical significance.
One of my favorite subjects is to recreate “Crowned Nuns” and “Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz” portraits. I perform such pieces with a personal touch without loosing its artistic tradition as I do in all of my work.
Under my main themes, as far as contemporary art, I also represent the image of “Frida Kahlo”. I represent “Frida” as a symbol of not only Mexican tradition, but a modern Icon that denotes sorrow, liberation, feminism and joy of life.
In my art I try to unite spectator with the past to keep traditions alive.
